The Kovah Cooling Mat is advertised as a simple way to keep cats and dogs comfortable when the weather gets hot. It is designed to cool pets without electricity, water or refrigeration, making it sound like a convenient option for pet owners who want to help their animals stay cool at home. The mat is also advertised as gel-free, so there is no liquid cooling gel inside that could leak if a pet scratches or chews it. According to the product description, it uses special material that helps draw heat away from a pet’s body when they lie on it.
Kovah also promotes its mats as comfortable, easy to maintain and suitable for everyday use. They are available in different sizes, and the company advertises features such as breathable material and a non-slip bottom. For anyone with a cat that struggles to find a comfortable spot during hot weather, the idea sounds appealing. I liked the thought of giving my cat somewhere cool to rest without having to keep putting a mat in the fridge or worrying about electrical cables.
However, the product description and the actual experience of using something can be two very different things. I bought two Kovah Cat Cooling Mats in size L, in blue, and paid £52 for both. I expected reasonably good quality and a mat that would help my cat stay comfortable, particularly because the company website had so many positive five-star reviews. Unfortunately, I was disappointed with what arrived.
What Were the Kovah Cooling Mats Like When They Arrived?
The first thing that disappointed me was the packaging. Both mats arrived stuffed into a tiny plastic bag, with no paperwork or business address included for returns. I was expecting something a little more professional, especially considering how much I had paid for the two mats.
The quality was another letdown. The material felt very cheap, and the mats were extremely thin. From the pictures and description on the website, I had expected something more substantial and comfortable for my cat to lie on. Instead, I was left wondering why I had spent £52 on two mats that did not feel particularly well made.
I was not expecting luxury bedding for my cat, but I did expect a product that felt suitable for its advertised purpose. When a company sells something specifically designed to keep pets cool, I think it is fair to expect the material and overall quality to reflect that purpose. Sadly, these mats did not give me much confidence.
Do Kovah Cooling Mats Actually Keep Cats Cool?
Kovah says its mats work through pressure and help move heat away from a pet’s body. Unlike some cooling mats that use gel, these are advertised as gel-free, so they do not rely on a liquid-filled layer to provide the cooling effect. That sounds convenient because there is no need for electricity or refrigeration, and pet owners may feel more comfortable using a mat without cooling gel.
My experience, however, was disappointing. The mats did not feel cool at all to the touch, which was not what I expected from a product sold specifically for cooling pets. I understand that a pressure-activated mat may not feel icy cold like something taken from a fridge, but I expected to notice some sign that the material was different from an ordinary, thin mat.
My cat has also shown absolutely no interest in either of them. Of course, cats can be fussy about where they choose to sleep, so I would not say that every cat will react the same way. Still, when you combine my cat’s lack of interest with the cheap-feeling material and the absence of any noticeable cooling sensation, it is difficult for me to feel that I got good value for my money.
The Five-Star Reviews Gave Me High Expectations
One reason I decided to buy the Kovah Cooling Mats was the overwhelmingly positive five-star feedback on the company’s website. I expected that a product receiving so many glowing reviews would be of reasonable quality, particularly when it was being sold as a dedicated cooling solution for cats and dogs.
After receiving my order, I found those reviews difficult to reconcile with my own experience. The mats were much thinner than I expected, the material felt cheap, and I could not feel any cooling effect when I touched them. I cannot say that the reviews are fake simply because I had a bad experience, but I do think buyers should remember that reviews displayed on a seller’s own website do not necessarily give the full picture.
I would have been much happier if the mats had felt well made and done something noticeable to help my cat stay comfortable. Instead, I spent £52 on two products that have been left unused. That is not the result I expected when I placed the order.
My Experience Trying to Contact Kovah
Unfortunately, my disappointment did not end when I opened the package. When I looked at the return situation, I realised that there was no paperwork or business address included to explain where the mats should be sent back. I have since sent emails and WhatsApp messages to the company, but I have not received a helpful response.
That has made the whole purchase even more frustrating. If I had received a product I was happy with, I would not have needed to contact the company at all. But when something does not meet expectations, I believe the seller should at least be available to explain the return process and help resolve the problem.
At the time of writing, I have not managed to sort this out, and I am still disappointed about the money spent. I bought the mats because I wanted something useful for my cat, not something that would leave me chasing the seller for an answer.
Is Kovah Cooling Mat Worth the Money?
The Kovah Cooling Mat sounds like a useful product on paper. It is advertised as a gel-free cooling mat that requires no electricity, water or refrigeration, and that could be convenient for pet owners during hot weather. But the product I received did not live up to my expectations, and I would not recommend it based on my experience.
I paid £52 for two large blue mats, yet the material felt cheap, the mats were extremely thin, and neither seemed to offer the cooling effect I had hoped for. My cat has shown no interest in using them, and my attempts to contact the company about the problem have not led to a helpful response.
I know not every cat will like every mat, and another buyer may have a different experience. But for the price I paid, I expected better quality and a product that felt worth buying. The positive reviews on the website certainly gave me higher expectations than the mats themselves managed to meet.
I would not buy Kovah Cooling Mats again. If you are looking for a cooling mat for your cat or dog, I would compare other options carefully and pay attention to the material, independent customer feedback and the seller’s return policy before spending your money. In my case, the Kovah mats were a disappointing purchase, and I would rather have spent that £52 on something better made for my cat.
