Security researchers have reported a broader network of more than 120 fake Walmart stores using near-identical designs and unusually large discounts, with shoppers being taken to checkout pages requesting full card information, including the card number, expiration date and CVV.
So the Goxox website is not an isolated example of somebody simply copying a Walmart page for fun. It fits into a much bigger pattern of fraudulent shopping sites using the trust people already have in major retailers.

The genuine Walmart website is walmart.com. Walmart also operates other legitimate subdomains under its own domains, but walmart.goxox.com is controlled by the owner of goxox.com, not Walmart.
This trick works particularly well on mobile phones because people often arrive through an advertisement or search result, tap the link and immediately start browsing. The address bar is not necessarily the first thing they inspect, especially when the product appears to be a fantastic bargain.
By the time they reach checkout, the website may already feel familiar enough that asking for a name, address, phone number and card details does not seem unusual.
The Clearance Prices Are Part of the Attraction

Fake Walmart stores tend to advertise products at discounts that are difficult to ignore. A shopper might see an expensive brand-name product marked down by an enormous percentage and assume they have stumbled across a hidden clearance event, liquidation sale or returned-stock promotion.

A shopper might enter their card number, expiration date and security code, click the payment button and receive an error message saying the transaction did not go through. If you entered your card details into a site such as this, I would treat the card information as exposed rather than testing the website with another card.
Is Walmart Goxox Legit?
No, I would not consider walmart.goxox.com a legitimate Walmart shopping website.
The domain itself is enough to establish that it is not Walmart’s official retail domain, and the reported site has been flagged as unsafe by ScamAdviser. Its current report gives the site a very low trust score and notes that the domain owner information is hidden, unusually low traffic, the presence of an iframe and other concerns associated with the site.
There is an important point here, though. A website having an SSL certificate does not make it legitimate. ScamAdviser notes that the reported site has valid SSL, but also explains that scammers can use SSL certificates. HTTPS means the connection is encrypted; it does not mean Walmart owns the website or that the person operating the site will send you what you paid for.
This is something shoppers get caught by all the time. They see the padlock, assume the site has been verified and proceed with the purchase. The padlock only tells you that your browser has established an encrypted connection with that particular website. It does not tell you who is behind it.

Why These Fake Stores Keep Using Walmart
Walmart is an obvious target because the name carries a huge amount of built-in trust.
If a stranger creates a website called “Best Mega Discount Store,” shoppers have no reason to believe it. Put the Walmart logo across the same page and suddenly the situation feels completely different. People already know Walmart, have probably shopped there before and understand that the company sells almost everything imaginable.
The scammer is therefore not really starting from zero. They are borrowing Walmart’s reputation without having earned any of it.
The same technique has been used against other major retailers, but the current wave of fake Walmart sites is particularly concerning because researchers have found large numbers of domains designed around the same basic formula. Malwarebytes reported finding more than 120 fake Walmart stores in July 2026, describing them as convincing lookalikes that were used to push shoppers toward payment pages.
That makes the Goxox site easier to recognize as part of a broader shopping scam pattern rather than a strange one-off website.
What If You Already Entered Your Card Details?
If you visited Walmart.goxox.com and entered your card number, I would not wait around to see whether anything happens.
Contact the bank or card issuer and explain that you entered your payment details on a suspected fraudulent Walmart impersonation website. Ask what steps they recommend for protecting the account and disputing any unauthorized transaction. If the card issuer believes the card should be replaced, follow its instructions.
Walmart’s own guidance says that customers who see an unrecognized Walmart.com charge should contact their bank or credit-card company and dispute unauthorized charges through the financial institution. Walmart also recommends resetting passwords and removing saved payment information when an account may have been compromised.
If you used the same password on the fake site that you use elsewhere, change that password on the legitimate account as well. Do not reuse the password simply because the fraudulent purchase never went through.
It is also worth keeping screenshots, order confirmations and emails connected with the transaction. If a charge appears later, those records can help explain what happened when you report it.
What If the Website Is No Longer Working?
That does not make the original link trustworthy.

I have become much more suspicious of bargain links that arrive through advertisements or random search results, especially when the price is dramatically lower than what I would expect. If the offer claims to be from Walmart, I would rather open the official Walmart website myself and search for the item than trust the link in the advertisement.
The URL should also make sense. walmart.com is one thing; walmart.goxox.com is something completely different. The presence of the word “Walmart” somewhere in an address does not prove that Walmart operates the site.
It is also worth checking who is actually selling the product, what company name appears in the terms and checkout information, where returns are supposed to go and whether the contact information matches the retailer. If the site is using Walmart’s identity but cannot clearly explain who is actually taking your money, I would leave it alone.
And if a product is supposedly 80% or 90% off, I would not let the countdown timer or “only 3 left” message rush the decision. A fake store can create its own scarcity just as easily as it can copy a logo.
